he cast of the MBC sitcom "High Kick!" (2006-2007) will reunite on a documentary program, 14 years after the sitcom wrapped up.
"The production team of MBC's Docuflex is preparing to shoot a documentary about the sitcom," an MBC official said Tuesday. "But it is yet to be confirmed which actors will appear in it. The format has not been decided either."
"High Kick!" is one of MBC's most successful sitcoms ever, scoring its highest viewership rating at 20.4 percent. Its popularity was attributable to its original plots, the actors' vivid portrayal of their characters and the chemistry they created on the show.
The 167-episode show revolves around the life of the Lee family, with veteran actor Lee Soon-jae appearing as the family patriarch and Na Moon-hee playing the role of his wife. It also featured several high-profile stars, such as Jeong Jun-ha, Park Hae-mi, Jung Il-woo and Park Min-young.
Many of its episodes are currently available on YouTube, and the majority of them have garnered more than 100,000 views each.
"High Kick!" also had two sequels: "High Kick through the Roof" (2009-10) and "High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged" (2011-12), both of which were also popular.
So far, "Docuflex" has aired the episodes about the MBC hit rom-com "Coffee Prince" (2007) and the sitcom "Nonstop" (2000), among others. By revisiting popular shows of the past, "Docuflex" has been garnering numerous positive reviews for evoking nostalgia.
The "High Kick!" episode is scheduled to hit the air later this year.
