Shinji says not drinking alcohol kept her in shape

Singer and Koyote group member Shinji said at a press conference yesterday that cutting down on her alcohol consumption helped her stay in shape.

Shinji met yesterday with Kim Jong-min and Bbaek Ga, other members of her group, to promote their new album "1999" at a cafe near Hongik University in northwestern Seoul.

Because their new song, whose title is the same as the album, is retro, the members dressed in clothes and fashion styles that were easily seen back in the 1990s, such as floral jackets and glasses with large frames.

The music will be released today.

"I think working out helped me a lot to stay in shape, and in fact, the biggest secret is that I stopped drinking", she said as many reporters asked her secret. "It's been over a year since I had done so".

Koyote - 1999 MV [English subs + Romanization + Hangul] HD

Koyote returns in time to ‘1999’ with mini album

Veteran dance group Koyote is launching its new mini album titled “1999”,  celebrating the 17th anniversary of its debut today.

The title song also named ‘1999’, written by renowned producer duo ‘Double Kick’ brings back 90’s disco rhythms to the song highlighting Koyote’s distinctive sounds.

Along with the song, the group dresses up with colorful retro outfits. In the MV, Koyote also shows old dance moves of K-pop stars in 90’s, including H.O.T., Hyun Jinyoung, and Diva.

Koyote has continued its act since 1998 for 17 years, and introduced a number of hit songs, “Soon Jung” as a start, “Mi Ryun,” “Sil Yun,” “Fashion,” “Bi Mong,” “Pa Ran,” “Fashion,” “Bingo,” and “Good Good Time.”

“It’s hard to believe that we are celebrating 17th anniversary.” and “We are planning to hold our first solo concert this year,” Koyote said.

Koyote Is a Blast From the Past with New Music Video “1999″

Koyote (KYT) just released a colorful and fun retro music video for their new song “1999.”
“1999” was written by famous producer and composer Duble Sidekick, who created a master combination of a feel-good sound and lyrics that take the listener to a merry past. The narration by An Hye Kyung especially enhances the feel of listening to the radio back in the day.
The music video for the song features retro fashion and dance that take us back to the earlier K-Pop groups from the 90s. With colorful clothes and old-school hairstyles, the trio cheerfully dances to the song with dances directly reminiscent of H.O.T, Roo’ra, Kim Gun Mo, Seo Taiji and Boys, Turbo, Clon, DJ DOC, etc., creating a window to the past that shows what old K-Pop was like before the popular groups of today like EXO and TVXQ, or SISTAR and Girls’ Generation.
Koyote debuted in January of 1999 with their first album titled “Koyote,” and have since come out with hit songs such as “Passion,” “Lingering Affection,” “Broken Heart,” “Sad Dream,” “Together,” “Good Good Time,” “Hollywood,” etc.
Their new mini album “1999” will be released on January 22.

Shin Ji ‘Retro Matches Me Too Well… I Keep Getting Tackier’

(Photo : OSEN)
Koyote member Shin Ji spoke about her new album concept, saying "I think I keep getting tackier," and laughed.
On January 21st Koyote held a 17 year debut anniversary mini album release Press Day at Club Jack Be Nimble in Seoul. Shin Ji spoke about their new song "1999" and its concept. She said, "The way things just happen, I keep getting tackier. Maybe it's because I try to express more of a retro feel." She smiled brightly after admitting her fashion style may be heading in the wrong direction.

said, "More than retro, it just gives off the vibe of someone who lived long time ago" and elicited laughter. Shin Ji retorted, "To be honest this kind of style shouldn't look too good on you. I think as we're getting older these styles are beginning to match us more. It's a trap."

At this press conference, Koyote members were asked where their 'retro' source came from. Shin Ji explained 'When we received our title song '1999,' the composer suggested 'before' (or old times) as a concept. And it was decided that our styling would be like that of old times. After all, we did have our activities in the 90s."
Koyote's newest mini album 1999 has the title song "1999," Why You Too," "Snow Is Falling," "Hold Me," and "Even If this Winter Passes" (tentative translations). The members' retro styling, music video, and dance all give off the aura of the 1990s.
Their title song "1999" was composed and produced by the famous Duble Sidekick. The song has an exciting sound that takes you on a trip down memory lane, which is in harmony with the song lyrics. Even Radio DJ narrator An Hye Kyung's voice is captured on the song, causing the illusion that one is listening to a winter night radio show.
The album will be released on the 22nd.

코요태 Koyote - 1999 Official MV

translation lyrics '1999'

Narration)
Hello, this is Ahn Hye Kyung’s Crazy Night
I’m your DJ for today, Ahn Hye Kyung
It’s the last winter night of 1999
A new group debuted today, a co-ed group
The name of the group is Koyote, very unique
Shall we listen to their song?

Ah yeah, 1999 everybody
There’s no kim in the kimbap?
Bumgi digi digi bum bum deng
We’re gonna bring it back in time
With that old school Koyote style
Say 1, 2, 3, 4

Short school uniform skirt with a side part pinned hair
H.O.T’s Candy gloves were a must
The streets that were filled with the white winter
Those times seem just like yesterday

Lala only by singing
At some point, I turned over thirty
How is everyone doing?
I’m curious tonight

A winter night that was especially colder
I remember the things I forgot about
As if there was a hole in the sky
The day when big snowflakes fell down

Everyone went crazy, you went crazy too
Hey ya HeyHeyHey Hey ya
Everyone flew around, you flew around too
I want to go back to that winter

A piece of gum, pencil cases, colored pencils (superman)
It’s a night where it’s hard to call a single friend out
A night where I put on a face mask and watch TV alone
Now even Shin Ji stopped drinking so I get drunk by myself
All by myself, nanana sswa, nanana sswa

Lala only by singing
At some point, I turned over thirty
How is everyone doing?
I’m curious tonight

A winter night that was especially colder
I remember the things I forgot about
As if there was a hole in the sky
The day when big snowflakes fell down

Everyone went crazy, you went crazy too
Hey ya HeyHeyHey Hey ya
Everyone flew around, you flew around too
I want to go back to that winter

Everyone, all together
Everyone danced together
Wearing baggy hip-hop pants
I want to go back to those times
(Everyone, I’ll take you there)

A winter night that was especially colder
I remember the things I forgot about
As if there was a hole in the sky
The day when big snowflakes fell down

Our happy winter night
I remember the times that I forgot about
Faintly coming back to me again
I want to go back to that winter

(Everyone went crazy, you went crazy too
Hey ya HeyHeyHey Hey ya
Everyone flew around, you flew around too
I want to go back to that winter)

Koyote comes back with a 70-80’s look

One of the first unisex idol groups in Korea have come back with an old school, 70-80’s theme.
Koyote has been in the music industry for a total of 17 years and are a legendary group for bringing exciting, techno style dance songs in to K-pop.

On the 21st of January in a small cafe at Hongdae, Koyote held a press conference concerning their newest mini album titled “1999”. Despite having been in the industry for a whopping 17 years, this was actually their first ever press conference, and so all three members admitted to being quite nervous.

The reason why they named their mini-album “1999” was because 1999 was the year in which they were most active during their career. Although their fashion concept isn’t exactly representative of the style in 1999 (as their album name suggests), the main objective of this 70-80’s concept was simply to make it look as old fashioned as possible.

Furthermore, according to one of the members (Bbaekga), who also has experience as a photographer, explained that they went for the concept once promoted by one of Korea’s earliest boy groups, Sobangcha, in the 80’s.

The mini-album will be officially released on the 22nd of January, with other songs titled “Why Are You Like This”, “Snow is Falling”, “Hug Me” and “After Winter Passes”.

Without a doubt, Koyote has been a favorite for many Koreans, and news of their comeback was a positive surprise.
