Xports News recently conducted a New Year's interview with Baekga to celebrate the New Year of the Horse in 2026. Baekga, who turned 45 this year, looked back on the past year and shared his colorful plans for the coming year
Group Koyote's Baekga (real name Baek Sung-hyun) sent his heartfelt congratulations to member Shinji , who is more than just a colleague but like family, ahead of her upcoming wedding.
.
Koyote, which Baekga is a part of, is the longest-running mixed group in Korea and has been active continuously. They debuted in 1998 and have not only been active in their own fields, but also released a new song " Call Me " last year, spurring group activities. Koyote, which has been active for 28 years without disbanding since its debut, has been receiving much love since 2004, with Kim Jong-min , Shinji, and Baekga having been active for 22 years without a member change.
Koyote, who has continued the brand concert 'Koyote Festival' from last year to this year, is meeting numerous audiences across the country and is also announcing various overseas performances.
Following their performances in the America & Australia Baekga tell they is preparing for Koyote's solo concert in Vietnam this year. Regarding their continued popularity, he said, "I think it's because there are a lot of familiar songs."
He analyzed, "Sometimes when you go to a concert, don't you wish the singer would sing that song? But since most of our songs are familiar to the audience, we have a lot of songs that can be called 'sing-alongs,' so I think it's because it's a concert where you participate rather than just watch."
What kind of year will 2026 be for Koyote and Baekga? Baekga said, "Every year, when the new year begins, I've consistently done what I've been doing, and I've seen unexpected good results and situations, so I plan to continue to be active this year as well."
Baekga especially raised expectations by saying, "This year, I'm planning a personal album and photo exhibition. The album work is almost finished, so I'm just waiting for the right time. The photo exhibition is also over 80% ready."
Regarding the photo exhibition, he added, "The work is almost finished, so we are in the process of organizing the gallery and exhibition schedule."
Koyote also delivered a series of good news this year. Following Kim Jong-min's marriage last year, Shinji announced her marriage to junior singer Moonwon. Previously, Xports News exclusively reported that the wedding would be held at the Raum Art Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on May 2nd.
Baekga expressed his sincere feelings by congratulating Shinji, whom he cherishes like a younger sister, more than anyone else on her marriage.
"To Shinji. I congratulate you more than anyone else and sincerely hope that you will be happy for a long time. I have been and will continue to support you when you are happy and comfort you when you are sad, no matter what situation you face. Because you have Kim Jong-min and Baekga."

Part 2
Hint by Baekga .. Koyote's new album and his own album are in preparation.
Regarding Shinji's marriage, Baekga said, "I congratulate Shinji more than anyone else and sincerely hope that shinji will be happy for a long time," and showed his affection that is no less than that of a real older brother, saying, "I have done so until now and will continue to support Shinji when she is happy and comfort her when she is sad, no matter what situation she faces." Now, Baekga feels a lot of pressure as the only unmarried member of the group. He whined, "After Shinji's marriage announcement, the question I get asked the most is, 'All the members are married , so when are his turn ?'"
He continued, "It was okay until Jongmin-hyung, but when Shinji said she also going, I got impatient and thought I had to go quickly." He continued, "We've become a lot like each other as we've been promoting as a team for a long time. If possible, I think it would be good to get married around the same time, but I've had vague plans for marriage since I turned 40."
He also shared his marriage plans, saying, "If the opportunity and circumstances arise, I want to get married at a time when it's not too late and spend time with the members as a married couple."
In particular, Baekga confessed his bitter feelings about the loneliness he feels as a single person while many of his acquaintances are married, saying, "When I was young, there were many reasons for my loneliness, but now that I'm in my mid-40s, just looking at them makes me lonely."
Baekga also hinted at Koyote's plans for 2026. He said, "Koyote's new album and my own album are in preparation, and I hope to share good news with you soon."
With Vietnam to follow in the US, he added, "We were proud that every city in the US was sold out during our last concert tour. It's not easy to schedule performances because we each have our own busy schedules, but if the opportunity arises, we're ready to go anywhere." Baekga added,
"I'm already in my mid-40s. But I'm not concerned about my age and I'm working hard to live my life without settling for anything. Both Koyote and Baek Sung-hyun will be active for a long time, so I hope you'll stay with us for a long time."

Part 3 (Export News, Reporter Myung Hee-sook) (Continuing from Interview ②) Coyote's Baek Ga (real name Baek Seong-hyeon) lost his mother last year. His mother, who had been a regular presence on television, shared her grief and received comfort from many. Export News recently conducted a New Year's interview with Baek Ga to mark the arrival of the Year of the Horse, 2026. Baek Ga, who turns 45 this year, reflected on the past year and shared his plans for the new year. When asked about his plans for the upcoming Lunar New Year, he replied: "I used to cook delicious food with my younger brother and go on short trips on Lunar New Year." "It's the first Lunar New Year since my mother passed away, so I'm a little worried." "My mother was the head of our household and always took the lead, so I'm a little worried about this Lunar New Year." Baek Ga, in particular, has consistently garnered attention for his colorful anecdotes on radio and variety shows. He said he often uses stories about his "mother and family" as the subject matter for his stories. "I've traveled a lot since I was young and been involved in a lot of outdoor activities, so I've met a lot of people from all over the world. I think those experiences often come up as the subject matter for my stories." Baekga also made many people laugh with various anecdotes about his ex-girlfriend. When asked if he'd ever received complaints from his ex-girlfriend, he revealed, "I even received an apology text saying, 'That's not how I felt back then.'" "I felt more sorry," he said. "Even if it's true, it's not a good thing to make someone feel that way. So, since then, I've tried not to talk about my ex-girlfriend." Baekga, who has various hobbies, including camping and collecting cars, said, "Camping and cars have been my hobbies for a long time, but I'm currently in a transitional period of letting go of both." He confessed, "I'm in the process of sorting out old hobbies, so I don't think I'll have any new ones for a while. These days, I'm trying to focus on new things. One of them is studying AI. I feel like I'll fall behind if I don't study AI now." Baekga also revealed his goals for this year as a nature lover. He said, "Actually, I had planned to go camping on Mount Everest earlier this year, but it fell through due to scheduling conflicts. My goal for this year is 🏔️ camping on Mount Everest."

KOYOTE FESTIVAL CONCERT 2025

KOYOTE @ VIETNAM 7 MARCH 2026

Since September 2025, Koyote has met domestic audiences through their nationwide tour ‘Koyote Festival,’ visiting cities including Daegu, Seoul, Ulsan, and Busan. As Korea’s longest running coed group, the trio decided to head to Vietnam to reconnect with overseas Korean residents and international fans who have long missed Koyote’s music and vibrant stage presence.

The group previously received enthusiastic responses during their recent United States tour and performances in Australia, where they created unforgettable memories for both local audiences and Korean expatriates while evoking nostalgia for Korean pop culture.

According to their agency, following their tours in the United States, Australia, and across Korea, overseas fans and expatriate communities from around the world reportedly flooded the company with requests for additional concerts. Riding on this momentum, Koyote has pledged to spread "K heung" beyond Korea and onto the global stage.

Now entering their 28th year since debut, Koyote continues to prove their enduring popularity, with each new release still charting on major music platforms while maintaining a strong presence on variety shows, festivals, and concert stages.

Public reactions such as “This is the color of Korean excitement and music,” “We are just grateful they are still active,” and “Isn’t this what a national singer looks like?” highlight their cross generational appeal.

Meanwhile, Koyote plans to continue their nonstop activities through new music, concerts, and broadcast appearances, solidifying their reputation as true “living legends” of Korean POP
