1 Night, 2 Days director, Choi Jae Hyung, has revealed his thoughts for his decision to join KBS’ labor union strike.
KBS’ labor union held a press conference on April 4, at Seoul’s KBS headquarter.
On hand at the press conference were various directors of KBS’ documentary, drama, variety and radio programs including Kim Young Sun, Park Chun Gi, Kang Yo Han, Seo Soo Min, Choi Jae Hyung, Go Min Goo and Park Ji Young, who revealed their reasons for joining.
On this day, director Choi revealed, “Today is the 30th day of the labor union strike. I had the thought to help keep alive Korea’s variety programs by whatever means possible and was present for the shooting. Following four weeks of episodes, 1 Night, 2 Days will not be able to air regularly due to the labor strikes. I apologize to our beloved viewers.”
The labor union at KBS has gone on strike since March 6 calling for the resignation of KBS president Kim In Kyu. Director Choi and his peers have been a part of the strike for its thirty days.
Director Choi added, “Though the situation is like this, if we are able to return to our programs, we will work harder than before. To our viewers we are sorry. The labor union strikes are our problem.”
On a last note, director Choi added, “After the conclusion of the past four weeks broadcast, five PDs, including myself, have released our hold on the show and have no association with it currently. Right now, two free.
