Fishing has been woven into the history of KBS2’s 1 Night, 2 Days as the cast members of the program have been traveling around numerous islands in Korea since its first broadcast in August 2007.
The January 29 broadcast of the program brought it all back, and featured the castmembers working hard at pulling in the fish for the ‘Five Major Fishing Boat Special
Tasked with extremely laborious work, each member set out to help the fishermen in the offing of Pohang.
As a result of lucky or unlucky game, Uhm Tae Woong was charged with the hardest mission, getting on the boat for cuttlefish fishing for as many as 12 hours while Kim Jong Min caught puffers and Lee Su Geun caught queen crab.
Lee Seung Gi, whose birthday happened to be the day of the shoot, threw himself at the rough seas, catching octopus while Eun Ji Won caught monkfish.
The cast members struggled with seasickness and cold weather, causing the viewers to feel sorry for them and at the same time sense that the cast had returned to their original mindset.
Fishing missions are considered one of the toughest missions on the program, but as the cast members did their best in helping fishermen at the sea, the special worked to move the viewers and bring about a wave of nostalgia - appropriate, as the show is quickly approaching its end.
